Hello, my name is Howie, but you can call me Howard. Now that I am a mature and distinguished retired racer (four years old), I think the longer version of my name is rather appropriate.
My favorite activities are sleeping, squirrel-watching, and having my head rubbed. I wake up at 6 o'clock every morning to go to the bathroom, but then I go back to sleep. I prefer to spend more hours of the day asleep than awake--it's probably the biggest benefit of being retired.
I'm a pretty simple guy, just looking for a good home. I enjoy long walks and am great on the leash (although, I just get so excited when I see a squirrel, I can't help lunging). I'll even prance along beside you if you want to jog (but, I'll be laughing on the inside at how slow you are).
Cats really get on my nerves, so you'd better not try to adopt me if you have cats. Other dogs are okay though, especially if they like to lay around and relax the way I do. I might chase a ball with them if I feel like it, but it kind of seems like more effort than it's worth.
I don't have a whole lot to say. I mean, I'm not one of those dogs that just barks to hear myself bark--I won't bark unless I have something important to discuss. On that note, I think I'll go back to bed, but if you think I'm the dog for you, just set up a visit with me.
